A Message from Lifelong Learning Chairperson- Cathy Shapiro

Dear Friends:

It's been a VERY busy time. We wanted to take a moment to say hello to the friends, old and new, that have supported our Life Long Learning Committee this past year. I'm especially grateful for our incredible teachers.  They inspire us each day with their passion for excellence in Jewish education. Happy Chanukah! Have a wonderful holiday season. Celebrate love, pursue peace. Enjoy life always, no matter the time of year. Keep learning! Our classes are open to the public.  Be on the lookout for Rabbi Gross’s nest "That was Then, this is Now ..." Bible Personalities class in January. Stay tuned for a brand new program introducing Proverbs, the "smartest" book in the Bible! Did you know that anyone can support Lifelong Learning at TBO through a contribution to the Mark Wm. Gross Scholar-In Residence Fund?  Event sponsorships are also available.  Remember, many of the best program ideas come from you, our Community members. We hold Life Long Learning Committee meetings the third week of every month. Start your year anew and join us in our effort to create unique learning opportunities for the entire congregation.

Look for the latest program information in Flickers, TBO Happenings, and here, on the Temple’s website! If you would like more detailed information about Jewish learning in our Community, please contact the Lifelong Learning Committee Chair Cathy Shapiro. You can leave a message for her at (954) 682-0575 or write cathydvr@gmail.com

Travel safely, and take care! Your Life Long Learning Committee

 Ongoing Classes with Rabbi Gross

  • Bagel Academy Torah-Study Breakfast - Saturdays at 9 a.m.

We always precede Shabbat worship with an in-depth exploration of the passage of the weekly Torah portion. Each discussion is self-contained; attend weekly or as your schedule permits.  New or periodic participants are always welcome. Everyone attending may choose to review ahead of time the excerpt under discussion from the weekly parashah (listed in the monthly Light, weekly Flickers, or on the Shabbat page of our web site: www.templebethorr.org/worship/shabbat/).

  • Brown-Bag Torah Study Lunch -Tuesdays at Noon

You're taking an hour for lunch anyway, so why not pack a sandwich and discuss Torah with Rabbi and friends in this informal setting. Let’s chew our way through the Five Books together.
