Shabbat Evening Services
We have a wonderful texture and cadence to the content and format of our Friday evening Shabbat worship. To keep our service start-time straight, just remember that "First and Third, Early's the Word"!
1st Friday of the month - beginning at 6:30 p.m.:
A family-oriented "Celebration" Shabbat, including blessings for those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries in the coming month. During most of the program year, services are sponsored and hosted by one of the grades in our Rosenberg Religious School.
2nd Friday of the month - beginning at 8:00 p.m.:
A straightforward and engaging Shabbat worship occasion (same on the Fourth Friday, in those months where it happens not to be the last Friday!).
3rd Friday of the month - beginning at 6:30 p.m.:
Our "come-as-you-are Shabbat Experience" is driven by the music (and lots of guitars). An informal, Summer camp-style prayer journey, kicking off with a little attitude adjustment over wine and cheese at 6:00.
last Friday of the month - beginning at 8:00 p.m.:
Featuring a service for the reading of the Torah (which we always do on Shabbat morning-- but once a month you get to see and hear it as well on Friday night!).
Don't get thrown by oscillating service times -- just remember that "First and Third, early's the word"!
"K'tonton Club" Shabbat service and play activity for families of children aged 2 to 6 convenes with Rabbi Gross at 5:45 on the third Friday of the months. Exceptions are occasionally made on long weekends and during the slow Summer months, so cross-check against the Temple calendar.
