Event Helps Replenish Much-Needed Food Closet to Feed the Hungry

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 (Coral Springs, Florida) Temple Beth Orr and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church each received half of the food donations collected during a March Promotion by Curves.  This is the second year Sharie Slupecki, owner of the Curves location at 10794 Wiles Road, Coral Springs, donated the collection to Temple Beth Orr.  This Curves promotion encourages women to live healthier by waiving the Curves registration fee when donating a bag of groceries.

The food closet has existed for more than 24 years and relies on the generosity of its congregants and the community to provide food. The John and Ilayne Finkelstone Food for the Needy Fund provides funding when donations fall short.  Temple Beth Orr is currently feeding 50 to 60 families per month.

“Summer is fast approaching and with school out demand increases for food.  Donations of canned good staples with non-expired dates are always needed and appreciated,” added Charlotte Rosenberg, Food Closet Chair and Social Action Committee Co-Chair.

For more information or to make a donation to the Temple Beth Orr Food Closet or John and Ilayne Finkelstone Food for the Needy Fund, contact Temple Beth Orr at 954-753-3232 x 201 or log on to www.templebethorr.org.
